Privacy policy

The short version

Tipoff keeps only what it needs to run the game: your scores, and if you make an account, your email and username. We don't sell data, and there are no ads.

If you play as a guest

  • Your browser stores your daily progress, streak, best score and sound setting (local storage). Clearing site data removes them.
  • A random ID cookie (tipoff_pid) links your daily scores so we can show where you rank against other players. It contains nothing about you.
  • We save each daily guess and score with that ID and the time it took. These power the percentile, distribution chart and anti-cheat checks.

If you make an account

  • Your email address (or your Google account's email if you sign in with Google), used only to sign you in.
  • The username you choose, shown on leaderboards and to friends.
  • Your daily plays, streaks, achievements and friend list.
  • If you choose, the guest plays from your device are moved onto your account.

Who processes it

  • Supabase stores the database and handles sign-in.
  • Vercel hosts the site and provides privacy-friendly, cookie-free page analytics (page views, no personal profiles).
  • Map tiles load from Esri, which sees your IP address like any website you load images from.

Your choices

You can play without an account. You can ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it at any time.

Kids

Tipoff is a family-friendly game. Accounts are for players 13 and older; younger players can play as guests, which stores nothing that identifies them.
